Can any of you please help with a possible location of this photo??
I was going through my photos here, doing fact checking, etc. and I ran across this submission.
Only problem is, in looking at a similar photo I scanned recently, preparing for submission, I noticed that they were within 3 car lengths of each other; this one says Birmingham, the other says Montgomery! Arrrgghh!!
The other slide is of a similar view, only 3 car-lengths to the rear of this one, and there is an overpass behind/going over the rear of the engine consist.
The info on the slide says Birmingham, AL; train 771.....but I'm pretty sure it's actually in Montgomery. I remember that it was on the east side of town, and the main and siding were beside a street. Not street running, but alongside. This spot was a popular spot for incoming westbounds from ??? to stop until they got clearance into the yard downtown. This was in the late 80s, so may not be the same now.
I'm at my wits' end here.....I know this is not a lot of info to go on, but.....any ideas?
