Thought I read somewhere that this (ex EMD 434A) was not actually the first SD40X delivered. Can anyone confirm this?

EMD 434 preceded EMD 434A.
EMD 434 demo'ed in Santa Fe blue and yellow, and was finally sold to the GM&O as their #950.

EMD SD40X 434 preceded 434A. EMD 434 demo'ed on Santa Fe for a short time, eventually became GM&O #950. Here's a photo of EMD 434 in Santa Fe blue/yellow colors taken at Cicero, IL in February 1965
