BNSF -2s are a prime and perfect, sobering example of get them while you have them comfortably in your grasp. I myself am a shining example of the "d#@# (fill-in-the-blank-model); they're everywhere and it'll be a cold day in hell before I shoot one!" syndrome. I was afflicted with that back in the 70s and 80s
Even a year ago I would have said that 407 left is 406 too many.
I do NOT think that way now. I'm snapping them up as fast as I can and STRONGLY advise the younger crowd to do the same.....

PS: ATSF CF7s? Now that's another story....

Erik; good.
Back in the late 70s/early 80s they were everywhere, like grains of sand on a beach. Now look at how many are left.
You're going to blink and they'll be gone in your lifetime. Get them while you can.....

This just made me realize that... one day UP SD70Ms will be rare and "a good catch". I hope that a few years off.

421. Obviously not all are in service. Itd be nice if they had some around Galesburg, but they appear to be in love with those crappy 500s. I can't wait for the day when all the 500s disappear, but I dont think one can get that lucky.

Well, as one who has learned this hard lesson more than once, the only thing I can say to that is:
Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it.

Chase them when they're new, thumb your nose at them most of their service lives, then chase them to the scrapper. The typical perspective of the foamer.
