Heritage units. Does anyone else think that an ES44C4 in Santa Fe Warbonnet,a C4 in Heritage 1,another C4 in BNSF Warbonnet paint would look great ( almost forgot H2 too!)? How about an SD70ACe in Cream and Green,an ACe in Cascade Green with a whiteface and or stripes. Not to mention GN,SPS,CBQ,NP and Frisco,Colorado and Southern. I think it`d be great! I grew up in Minnesota next to BN,ex GN lines, traveled to Montana,Wyoming and other states to photo graph the railroad I love, even was a conductor on BNSF. I would love to BNSF give a nod to it`s rich heritage!

BNSF will probably never do Heritage Units, it would be nice if they did, but its really not likely. We should just be glad that they've held off as long as they have when it comes to repainting all the former ATSF and BN units.

Hows about a SD70ACe in a "wedgebonnet" scheme... Start with the classic Santa Fe red and silver scheme, but do the modern BNSF wedge logo on the side in Red w Yellow outline and instead of the cigar band on the nose do a Yellow BNSF wedge w black outline. Make sure its on a cab headlight unit but change the number boards to black. Now theres a "hybrid" twist on a classic scheme!!

When is the next logical occasion BNSF could come out with such a series? 25 years? Still have a way to go.

I'd like to see NP, GN (both Emprire Builder and Big Sky), CB&Q, and SPS units. Maybe a SLSF, too.

Anyone want to see a WCRC heritage unit?

I guess my question is why? What does the BNSF stand to gain either financially or in PR? A few years back, the company went hog wild over a brand new corporate logo more generic than the Nike swoosh, and you think they really care about Heritage? Of course that was before the BNSF became Buffet's RR. Perhaps Warren has a sense of nostalgia in him? At least access to artistic designers equipped with something more capable than MS Paint...

Although some of the comments are true or simple opinion, maybe blame the railroads management? Thats why I suggested a petition, people sit and write a letter. I was too young to be employed by BN before they merged with the ATSF and yet wrote to Forth Worth and was able to ride a pure BN set of power and train in early 1995 at age 16 ( some said that would be impossible ). So what I`am saying is,write to Ft Worth,Warren Buffet, whatever and get the intrest out there. Nothing is impossible if one tries.

True. It would be nice but all BNSF Cares about is money in not the history they have.

Man that sounds great to me, maybe the BNSF already has this idea since Inter Mountain has done some of there Gevos in these former schemes. We can only hope.

No way this will happen. BNSF won't get a new scheme until Matt Rose leaves. He worked for Schneider.... and what color are Schneider trucks?

If they did do a heritage set, I hope they leave that ugly executive scheme out. Im a big BN guy, but Im not so big on that scheme.

Now here's another thing to think about, was anyone on here expecting Norfolk Southern to do heritage units, especially how many they have and still plan to do? I certainly didn't expect it. It's only a fantasy for now, but it's possible, not impossible for BNSF to do them.

It would be a great positive change in the American railroad scene if more of the class 1 railroads jumped on the Heritage unit bandwagon. It would brighten up what is becoming a dull railroad landscape!! With only a handful of class 1s left, there isnt much left for variety, these heritage units are giving us railfans something to get excited about again

Also take into consideration the current scheme, which I do get a laugh at,doesnt have the personality if you will of the Heritage two. Well my point is that the H3,H2,and if memory is right the cream and green Mac schemes where all spendy as far as price goes, the orange cant hold up now so as far as the "price" issue goes that doenst seem a very good argument or what have you to me,the H3 I have heard is spendy in terms if dollars when it comes to painting new and existing units. PS I may have said write a letter to them,a petition going around could be a pain in the.....
