Norfolk Southern released NS 8102, the Pennsylvania Railroad heritage unit

Guess the only thing they forgot was the Trainphone antenna along the top. (grin)

After seeing how awesome these NS heritage units are, I look at UPs heritage fleet and say to myself "what the hell were they thinking?!!" Sorry, but NS's fleet BLOWS UPs fleet clean out of the water!

I agree. Not a NS fan, but at least they are not putting a hybrid type of paint scheme on these heritage units. We dont have to watch them tarped to destination that they pick to be unveiled. Three times as many units and first class all the way!

I did like the Southern Pacific fantasy scheme, it was probably the most realistic one of the group. The CNW unit is just sad in my eyes, even though it was my favorite railroad, I hate the heritage unit. A big gawdy oversized green lightning stripe and gigantic ball and bar emblems on the long hood just doesnt work for me.

I agree that the NS Heritage units are spot on; where as the UP one's are hard to warm too. The best one for me is the WP version, and I think with the amount of earache I have given Rob in finding it, he will agree with that lol.

I guess the only models you will see of the NS heritage units in the near future, will be from Overland Models (OMI).

Hopefully Athearn gets the ball rolling on their ES44 models, they stated that the Tower 55 tooling is for the early version (like Intermountain), but hopefully they follow in the footsteps of their SD70 ACe/M-2 models and do all of the different phases and variations. I think it would be worth the wait!

Fox Valley Models has announced the GE ones in N Scale with a updated cab that includes the small notch in the nose and a cab mounted headlight.

I wish Intermountain would update theirs... They are stuck in the early phase rut
