Nice catch, Paul! Did the office let you and Craig out for a few minutes this morning? ;-P Tell UP to send it up here so I can snag a few pix too.

Thanks Rob! I got a heads-up from Craig while driving to work, so I swung by Dolores before heading to the office. Perfect timing, too; right after I finished shooting it, a set of light power pulls up and ties down on the track right in front of it!

Not sure where it's headed next, but hopefully the UP motive power dispatching gods can see fit to send it your way. If they do, hopefully they'll send down one or two of those Bay Area-assigned SSW GP60s our way in exchange...I haven't seen one of those in ages!

Man, looking back through my pics, I see I caught its sister, UP 2001, almost exactly five years ago at almost the same spot (give or take a few dozen yards or so)!

Since when have these two units (2001, 2002) have yellow frame stripping? I thought they where white?

They were white ..... but they've been yellow for quite a while now.

When they will be renumbered in their intended numbers - 4690 & 4691?

They weren't both white. 2002 was white, 2001 was yellow.

They originally had blue frame striping

Here's a link to when they were in service on the Olympic Torch Relay Train, with the blue Scotchlite sill striping: http://www.locophotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=44755.
