Here's a handy link for searching reporting marks:

I have ex-NS 1379, 1385 at some point being "GET" 1379, 1385 (reporting mark for Gettysburg RR) prior to entering the NRE program and turning into BNSF 2017-2018.

When I enter "GTI" it comes up empty ..... Imagine That !
Could be that GTI is not a registered road mark. Try searching GTI* or *Guilfird*. GTIS is the correct answer.

GTI would have been Guilford Transportation Industries, also using the initials MEC (Maine Central) BM (Boston and Maine) ST (Springfield Terminal) DH* (Delaware and Hudson) PTM (Portland Terminal Company) and GRS (Guilford Rail System) starting in 1981 until 2006 when the name was switched to Pan Am Railways (PAR.)
* Guilford purchased the D&H in 1981 but put it up for sale in 1988, being owned by the NYS&W (New York, Susquehanna and Western) which was then resold to Canadian Pacific in 1991. After GTI sold it in 1988, they no longer had rights to the DH reporting marks.

Stan picked up on my point ..... GTI is not a registered mark and consequently should not be part of the lineage.

Things are often created or turned around, and then take on a life of their own. Most people would know, although not correct, who GTI is. If someone were to use the correct GTIS, it would probably create more confusion.

I've been doing a little digging around on the history of this one...and I'm trying to figure out what reporting marks it carried. The STB list BNSF 2016 as former GET 1385; nice..another piece of mis-information. There is a photo of MEC 1386 on here; so I'm wondering if GET 1385 was actually MEC 1385? Can't seem to find anything to support that yet...but it sure makes allot of sense.

I never thought about GTI being Guilford, because Guilford (I thought) used the old reporting marks MEC, etc. - the same was FL is not an official reporting mark because Family Lines engines carried SCL, L&N, etc. reporting marks.

NS 1379/1385 never had anything to do with Guilford/MEC.
NS 1386 became MEC 382 and was provided as a replacement for MEC 375 after NS wrecked that unit at Momence, IL 2005-11-24.

NYSW never owned the DH,they were a interum operator until the CP was the sucessful bidder.
Several RR's including GTI bid for the DH.CSX helped NYSW by buying B40-8's and then leased them to NYSW.NS also helped by sending some C30 and SD40-2's until CP got posession.
