FAQ

Q. What is a LocoPhotos??
A. LocoPhotos is a website dedicated to cataloging and archiving locomotive photos. We are a community driven website, encouraging our visitors to participate by contributing photos and information to help make this site more complete. This website is useful to modelers as well as historians for prototype information.

Q. What is a "roster type photo"?
A. Roster photos are photos of railroad locomotives with no other subjects in the photo. A good rule of thumb is you must be able to read the number boards or reporting marks and see at least two sides. It is a photograph that best portrays the locomotive itself, no action, no scenery.

Q. Are you accepting Action or Scenery photos?
A. No. There are already many other great places online to contribute action and scenic photos. LocoPhotos is dedicated to storing and categorizing railroad locomotive photos.

Q.Can you scan my photos, or upload them for me?
A. No. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to scan photos for others. I have a hard enough time getting my own photos online. I will try to help with any questions you may have though.

Q. What are your photo requirements.
A. Only .jpg or .JPG photos are allowed. The file must be less than 300k in size. The dimensions of the photograph must be at least 700 pixels wide, but no wider than 1000 pixels.

Q. Can I upload someone else's photos?
A. To upload a photo that was taken by someone else, you must have full rights to it. The photo must be marked with the original photographer's name. Photos that are submitted as "used with permission" will not be accepted. The person who granted the permission is welcome to post their own photos here. Copyright infringement is not allowed, and will not be tolerated.
